I grew up in the Sudbury area but also lived in Toronto for several years. I went to Radio College of Canada and graduated as a Senior Engineering Technician. I later went to Cambrian College and acquired the certificates as a Microsoft Certified System Engineer in computer networking and also completed Real Estate Sale Certificates, in order to acquire sales experience. I still reside in the Greater Sudbury area.
I remember making a sketch in pencil at a very young age, of rocks near the water with various shades of grey. My school teacher saw it and asked me if she could have it. Surprised at the thought, of course I said yes. From that period on, I can remember capturing the surrounding scenery or unusual structures.
I migrated from willow charcoal after a time to pastels and then later to oil painting. Although mostly self-taught and due to my other interests, I learned from videos, books and online. I took some private lessons in oil painting initially to speed up the process. I continue mainly with oil painting today and turn to charcoal and soft pastels from time to time. At one point the work I did in technical areas led me to creating schematics using some drafting and 3D etching techniques on circuit boards. The use of cameras became an interest early. This developed as an useful tool. I grew to enjoy taking photographs and build up a range of subjects of my own. I never cease looking for the perfect scene for my next work of art.
